Geospatial ICT infrastructure for agricultural machines and Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS) in planning and operation of precision farming (Project)

In the framework of the EU tender ICT Agri-eranet a consortium of six academic institutions applied for promoting the establishment of a spatial IC-technology based information infrastructure for agricultural machinery and farm management information systems. The components will be used for planning and conducting field operations in precision agriculture. For the presented project proposal...

Ambient Awareness for Autonomous Agricultural Vehicles (Project)

Autonomous vehicles are being increasingly adopted in agriculture to improve productivity and efficiency. For an autonomous agricultural vehicle to operate safely, environment perception and interpretation capabilities are fundamental requirements. The present project will focus on the development of sensors and sensor processing methods to provide an autonomous agricultural vehicle with such...

Advanced Monitoring of Tree Crops for Optimized Management - How to Cope With Variability in Soil and Plant Properties? (Project)

The project targets at the development of an information and communication technology (ICT) system for precision irrigation of the economical most relevant tree crops apple and citrus. Through 3D-Mosaic the yield, product quality and water consumption shall be optimized. The approach of 3D-Mosaic is based on adjusted monitoring methods based on 2D and 3D image processing and spectral analysis...

Geospatial ICT infrastructure for agricultural machines and FMIS in planning and operation of precision farming (Project)

The overall aim of the GeoWebAgri-project is to investigate and develop an ICT infrastructure for handling geospatial data and knowledge, both, in agricultural machines and farm management information systems (FMIS) and to promote the introduction of this technology in European software and automation systems for agriculture. The technology is studied particularly in the context of spatial data...

Advanced Monitoring of Tree Crops for Optimized Management - How to Cope With Variability in Soil and Plant Properties? (Project)

The autonomous robot AMS (Autonomous Mechanization System) at Hohenheim University will carry the units for sensing, communication and data storage serving to detect tree and fruit specific growth and quality parameters. According to the sampling plan, the platform will navigate autonomously through the tree plantation and will trigger the communication and sensing components and will download...

The influence of different acrylamide concentrations on the transcription of selected genes in cell cultures analyzed by microarrays. Analysis of the biofunctionality of acrylamide (Project)

Food contaminants are substances, which are not natural compounds of food nor are they intentionally added during the manufacturing process. Acrylamide is a foodborne toxicant, which is produced at high temperatures during the process of baking, roasting and frying, but not cooking. High concentrations of acrylamide were detected in potato products like pommes frites and chips, in bread, bakery...

Advancement of toxicological study parameters in human cell cultures (Project)

The toxic and sensitizing potential of complex mixtures of substances, which can migrate from consumer products to skin, are studied in human cell cultures (primary keratinocytes, dendritic cells). Methods for determination of reference parameters (e.g. cellular protein con-tent per culture) and the simultaneous measurement of different biochemical/toxicological endpoints have to be advanced.

Development of a single cell model of adult cardiomyocytes as a replacement method of animal experiments? Optical measurements of excitation-contraction coupling under the influence of test substances (Project)

The aim of the project is to find a parameter as an indicator for the influence of test substances on cardiac function by calcium measurements in isolated cultured cardiomyocytes. Compared to other techniques, this should provide a meaningful method according to the guidelines for drug safety. At the same time this method has the potential to replace and reduce animal experiments.
