Enhancing the economic value of organically produced cash crops by optimizing the management of soil fertility
Project
Project code: 2811OE080
Contract period: 01.01.2012
- 30.06.2013
Budget: 178,209 Euro
Purpose of research: Networks and research co-ordination
The endeavour is part of a joint research project, which comprises the following subprojects: FKZ 11OE080, FKZ 11OE081, FKZ 11OE082, FKZ 11OE083, FKZ 11OE084, FKZ 11OE085.
The aim of this project is to deal with the topic soil fertility and plant nutrition in the frame of an interdisciplinary concept. The project is focused on organic cash crop farms which are run stockless or with a low stocking rate. The purpose of the project is the increase of soil fertility by the interaction of different action strategies. In this context, different aspects such as the cultivation of grain legumes under reduced tillage, alternative cropping systems and the application of secondary raw material fertilisers play a role. The proposal comprises different work packages which are closely intermeshed. The following partners are involved in the project: FiBL Germany and FiBL Switzerland, Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft (LfL), Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden, Naturland, Stiftung Ökologie und Landbau, Universität Kassel and Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institut (vTI).
