Purpose of research: Experimental development
The BMZ supports Uganda in Livestock Development. ILRI together with the German partners FLI, Bfr, Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) as well as Veterinaire sans frontiers Germany and local institutions in Uganda works on four different components: i) Peste des petits ruminats (PPR), ii) Rift Valley Fever (RVF), iii) Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and iv) Veterinary Public Health (VPH). The FLI is especially involved in: i) Peste des petits ruminats (PPR), where FLI will assist the project partners in setting up PPR diagnostics and virus isolation as well as conduct advanced genetic characterization at FLI of PPRV isolates. ii) Rift Valley Fever (RVF), where FLI conducts virus characterization and studies on vector competence relevant for the transmission of RVFV.
