Effects of basic whey proteins and glycomacropeptide (GMP)on anabolic and catabolic processes of the bone
Project
Project code: MRI-PBE-08-013
Contract period: 01.01.2005
- 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Basic research
Clarification of the following questions: Do proteins of the basic whey fraction, glycomacropeptide or partial hydrolysis products of them increase the activity of osteoblasts and chondrocytes, decrease osteoclasts activity and, by this, improve bone structure, increase bone stability and reduce bone resorption? An additional positive effect of GMP may result from increased calcium bioavailability.
