The aim of the project is to evaluate the impact of the most important grain legumes on soil organic matter in arable soils, and to elaborate values vor environmental modeling and decision support in arable farming. The following questions will be addresses: 1)What is the quantitative impact of grain legume cropping systems on soil organic matter levels? 2)How can the impact of cropping systems on soil organic matter levels be measured in short-term field experiments? 3)How can the impact of grain legumes on soil organic matter levels be accounted for in environmental modeling and decision support in arable farming?
