Open data, due to the manifold possibilities of usage, hold a potential for innovations from which the agricultural sector can profit substantially. On the other hand, the use of open data poses challenges. Among others, the Open Data concept raises ethical and legal questions, which are the focus of this project. Experts warn against increased inequality of resources between different stakeholders due to open data generated by users and collected by companies on a daily basis. The aim of this project is to develop solutions that ensure a fair distribution of the benefits of (open) data and increase motivation for the use of open data. This overriding goal is to be achieved by analysing the status of legal regulations and social conventions pertaining to this subject in different cultural circles. An international working group collects, brings together and coordinates the evaluation of the information. In addition, recommendations for action and scenarios for the future provision of open data are to be developed. Within the scope of work package 20 legal and ethical aspects concerning the property of data are collected and researched. Applied methods are a literature search and obtaining legal assessments and other expert opinions. In work package 30, information is collected and evaluated within an international workgroup. The working group also fulfills advisory tasks for the project. Work package 40 deals with the processing and evaluation of information and the derivation of recommendations for action. In work package 50, public relation measures - which are of importance for this project - are conducted.
