Purpose of research: Applied research
The main objective is the development of an integrated process of dehulling, deshelling, oilextraction and detoxification of matrix-presscake of Jatropha curcas for an efficient production of a high valuable protein livestock feed and plant oil. The improved technologies will be upscaled to obtain Jatropha oil and all by-products as high efficiency energy sources at small-scale industrial level.
The Jatropha meal is normally toxic and therefore unsuitable as animal feed. In a former research projet a detoxification process for protein seed meal was developed and Jatropha is possible to be a sensible alternative to any protein feed meal. It’s protein quality is even slightly better than soy bean meal.
