Description
Laser- und Medizin-Technologie GmbH, Berlin (LMTB) is a non-profit research and development institute active in biomedical optics and applied laser technology. LMTB is closely linked to the university hospital Charité and the three major universities in Berlin, while the majority of LMTB's shareholders are leading medical device companies. Consequently, LMTB's mission is to convert ideas into technologies or therapies and to transfer these into industry and hospitals. A science-driven workforce of around 30 is active in a variety of research collaborations with academic and commercial partners most of which are publicly funded. In addition, LMTB conducts commercial R&D projects and holds courses and workshops on medical or industrial laser applications. Furthermore, LMTB supports medical device companies with expertise and studies related to the approval of medical devices and to intellectual property issues.
