Evaluation of varieties and plant genetic resources of rye for bioenergy use
Project
Project code: 22018305 JKI-ZL-08-3172
Contract period: 01.07.2006
- 31.07.2009
Purpose of research: Basic research
Biomass from rye is a carbon neutral renewable resource that can be produced in large quantities for the conversion into bioenergy. Rye suits both as a winter catch crop followed by maize and as a main crop harvested for total plants silage when the grain is in the milky stage.
The focal points of this investigation are to examine the suitability of different rye forms (varieties, tetraploid rye, plant genetic resources) for biomass production, to identify the ideal growing stage for harvesting the biomass of these rye forms and to estimate their potential of gas production by NIRS analysis.
