PhenoCrops: Integrated sensors for crop research, breeding and agricultural management
Project
Project code: z1011bc001f
Contract period: 01.01.2012
- 30.06.2015
Budget: 2,252,739 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Phenocrops will build a phenotyping chain, which is built from 4 phenotyping platforms, with a supporting IT structure. The phenotyping chain consists of a) High through phenotyping for individual plants under glasshouse conditions, b) Phenotping in small plots in the glasshouse, c) Phenotyping in field plots, d) Phenotyping several plots as well as fields using aerial systems. Each of the 4 parts of the chain enables development of specific sensors and measurement routines to identify plant characteristics to increase resource efficiency and yield potential. The common demoninator in this work is to develop non-invasive methods to detect structural and functional features of individual plants and plots. An important aim is the creation of a structure to identify key traits from plants and plots that can increase yield with greater resource efficiency.
