ATB Department 4 Engineering for Crop Production
Institution
Section overview
Description
Essential contributions to improve the efficiency of crop production and reduce the environmental impact are possible by using sufficient process and environment relevant information.
Sensors for measuring crop and soil parameters are developed or adapted to acquire the information with acceptable costs. Questions of technological incorporation are discussed before works for sensor development begin.
The research results in sensor developments are directly used for the site specific crop management (fertilisation and crop protection). The developed sensors are tested in the production process under practical conditions and are assed according of resulting effects.
For the competitiveness of sensor based production processes effective solutions for data acquisition and use are necessary, increasingly under aspects of food safety.
