Project code: 22016717
Contract period: 01.10.2019 - 30.09.2021
Purpose of research: Applied research

The project "InnoFuels" aims at the evaluation of innovative fuel processing techniques for high quality wood fuels, i.e. the cone chipper "Effiter 20.30" of Alvatec GmbH & Co KG (TFZ) and the mechanical wood chip press of Bohnert-Technik GmbH (HFR). Both machines provide wood fuels with fuel properties that differ strongly from typical wood fuels. Application of the techniques should improve overall energy efficiency of the whole process chain by positively affecting storage, drying or pelletizing. The new fuels should lead to lower emissions (CO, NOX or PM) during combustion in small scale boilers and might even improve energy efficiency in fixed bed gasifer-CHP's.
