Contract period: 01.04.2018 - 30.09.2021
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: fish feed

In fish farming and fish production, besides viral infectious diseases, especially the enteric redmouth disease (ERM) and furunculosis are costly infectious diseases for salmonids. Within the framework of this collaborative project, innovative flock-specific autogenic vaccines against these bacterial diseases are to be developed and produced in order to achieve an improvement in the prophylaxis of fish infection. This is to reduce the disease and therefore also the loss of animals in fish production while at the same time minimizing the use of antibiotics in aquaculture, which is ultimately the prerequisite for the production of healthy food. The focus of the project is, for one thing, a simple application form (dipping baths, oral administration) and also to create an optimal composition of the vaccines (long-lasting vaccination protection, detection of all relevant pathogenic bio- / serotypes). This is intended to achieve the highest possible acceptance for the use of the new vaccine in fish production.
