Department for Environmental Psychology
Institution
Section overview
Description
The Department for Environmental Psychology is involved with psychological research related to the Transformation towards Sustainability. The latter is understood both as top-down process, that is a political process of change to achieve the climate targets of reduced greenhouse gas emissions, as well as a bottom-up process, which is promoted through individual commitment on a level of social interaction aiming for a solidary quality of life. Consequently, important research fields we deal with are possible surrounding conditions of the great transition (e.g. political instruments, settings reducing greenhouse gases, possible implementations). At this juncture, we are interested in how these conditions are in accordance with human needs and their perception of justice, as well as how a pluralistic view on the room for manoeuvre within the changing surrounding conditions affects individuals.
