SFB/TRR 32 Project B3 : Spatial and temporal patterns of soil carbon pools - a MIR-spectroscopic approach
Project
Project code: keine Angaben
Contract period: 01.01.2007
- 01.01.2010
Purpose of research: Basic research
The specific environmental conditions adjacent to potentially mineralizable organic matter control the CO2 production in soil. This study aims at identifying spatio-temporal patterns of different soil carbon pools from field scale (m2 to ha) to regional scale (km2) and to relate them to patterns of soil parameters (clay, iron oxide, etc.), to soil microclimate, and to CO2 evolution. For the assessment of these soil properties we will utilize mid-infrared spectroscopy, a technique that provides high potential for the minimum-invasive quantification of soil properties.
