Contract period: 01.01.2007

Purpose of research: Basic research
Structure and state of soils have considerable influence on their flow and transport properties in particular for the vadose zone. We will develop an interpretation scheme for combined measurements of spectral induced polarization (SIP) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in order to assess structure, state, and thus flow properties of partially saturated soils. The relations between the measured (SIP, NMR) and targeted soil properties will be established by combined simulation of multiphase flow and SIP/NMR responses. These simulations will be verified by the corresponding laboratory experiments.
