Physical mapping and molecular analysis of regions which are relevant to breeding of the grapevine genome
Project
Project code: JKI-ZR-08-5133
Contract period: 01.01.2008
- 01.12.2020
Purpose of research: Applied research
Grapevine is one of our oldest crop grown for millenia. Nevertheless, this woody plant with long generation cycles and strong inbreeding depression causes problems, when genes encoding relevant characteristics are to be localized and analyzed. Genetic maps are only becoming available recently. For this reason, high molecular weight DNA and recombinant clones derived thereof are employed for the physical isolation of DNA corresponding to important regions for breeding purposes to make them accessible to detailed moelcular studies.
