Purpose of research: Experimental development
We developed a LED luminaire especially for dairy farming within the research project I_LED_Milchvieh ('Intelligent LED Luminaire for Feeding, Resting and Activity Area in Dairy Farming”). The basic luminaire was designed in the two equipment variants 'Premium” and 'Deluxe”. The aim of this project is the further development of the basic luminaire as well as the 'Premium” and the 'Deluxe” variation culminating in a marketable product. The illumination will be controlled intelligently and adapted to the special needs of the animals and the farmer. Animal welfare in dairy farms will be enhanced consequently. In the first step we will analyze the market situation (focus on the market, the customers, the competitors and the surroundings). Consequently we will define success factors to develop a marketable product. An additional aim of the project is the improvement of the maintenance (for example opening without instruments). Afterwards we will start the production of the 'Premium” and 'Deluxe” variation. Furthermore we will perform test in the laboratory and in the experimental stable. Central aspects of the project are animal welfare and biological effects of the light on the animals.
