Bioavailability and metabolism of anthocyanins as well as their interaction with topoisomerases and topoisomerase inhibitors in rats
Project
Project code: MRI-PBE-08-33
Contract period: 01.08.2006
- 31.07.2009
Purpose of research: Basic research
Aim of this project is to investigate the nutritional significance of anthocyanins, a subgroup of the flavonoids. The bioavailability and metabolism of purified anthocyanins and plant extracts will be studied in rats. Furthermore, the interference of anthocyanins with cellular signalling cascades will be studied in vivo, with a special focus on the specificity of the target interaction, the relevance for down-stream signalling cascades and the resulting effects on gene expression.
