Gene expression in layer lines selected on feather pecking
Project
Project code: FAL-TT-02-JK-01-06
Contract period: 01.03.2006
- 31.12.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research
The objectives are to screen and compare the expression of genes in the brain of laying hens selected for and against feather pecking. This knowledge will facilitate the search of candidate genes and chromosomal regions involved in or responsible for the development of feather pecking behaviour. This will in turn make selective breeding against this vice possible.
