SFB/TRR 32 Project A1 Phase 1: Pore structure, moisture, and water transport in soil by NMR
Project
Project code: keine Angaben
Contract period: 01.01.2004
- 01.01.2010
Purpose of research: Basic research
This project section characterizes pore structure, wetting properties, and directional unsaturated water fluxes for soil samples by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging of moisture and gas in voids, and by relaxation, diffusion and flow studies under partial wetting conditions. Laboratory studies will be followed by field studies with the mobile “NMR spade” to be developed for measuring anisotropic wetting and transport parameters on scales up to 5 cm, and validated by correlation with water content/hydraulic potential curves.
