Food and consumer protection

Project code: FLI-INNT-02-22
Contract period: 01.10.2005 - 30.09.2008
Purpose of research: Basic research

It is still unclear whether so-called TSE-resistant ARR7ARR sheep are really lacking any susceptibility to BSE and scrapie prions or whether such animals actually become assymptomatic carriers. In this project the potential presence of scrapie PrPSc and any associated infectivity in naturally exposed and/or experimentally challenged ARR/ARR sheep will be tested using biochemical and transgenic techniques.
