Project
Project code: 2816701110
Contract period: 01.12.2011
- 31.05.2014
Budget: 291,712 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
The proposal of the project comprises the development of an innovative information system, which furnishes the consumer about the present state of fruit and vegetables at the point of sale to support the decision to buy. At the point of sale produce relevant information on both the origin (producer, variety, quality grading, date of harvest, and others) and the actual de-gree of freshness are provided. The information system is based on an available modular intelligent system (Sysmore) for postharvest quality control of perishable horticultural pro-duce. Sysmore was developed within the scope of a preliminary research project (BMBF support code 0339992A TP 2.3). Aim of the present project is to develop a freshness termi-nal on the basis of Sysmore and further information. This terminal offers information at the point of sale about the present state of the produce (freshness, degree of degradation of compounds, keeping quality at different temperatures, etc.) as well as specifications regard-ing to optimal handling after purchase (optimal conditions for domestic home storage up to preparation/consumption).
