Description
The wood and forestry cluster is both ecologically and economically significant for North Rhine-Westphalia. Therefore in 2003 the state government and the University of Münster decided on founding the Centre for Forest Ecosystems. It now comprises the Research Group for Forest Ecology, Forestry and Timber Utilization at the Institute for Landscape Ecology as well as the International Institute for Forest Ecosystem Management and Timber Utilization North Rhine-Westphalia, the Woods and Forest Foundation, the Forest Consulting Group and the Forest Agency. The core competencies are applied research and consulting taking a local or international focus as well as education and training.
