Monitoring of Plasmodiophora brassicae the causal agent of clubroot in winter rapeseed in Germany and Europe and mapping of new resistance genes derived from genetic resources
Project
Project code: JKI-RS-08-1110
Contract period: 01.11.2009
- 30.06.2013
Purpose of research: Basic research
Pasmodiophora brassicae, the causal agent of club root, is gaining evident importance in Europe due to a constant spread of the area diseased. In order to ensure winter rape seed cultivation in the growing area of infested field the project aims at getting information on the incidence of different races and the effectiveness of different resistance genes against these races. Besides this, molecular markers will be developed for genes derived from genetic resources in order to facilitate an enhanced incorporation into adapted winter rape seed genotypes. The project contributes to the characterisation and use of genetic resources as well as to the enhancement of the resistance level of crop plants.
