Competitive exclusion of human pathogenic bacteria using the probiotic strain SF68

Purpose of research: Basic research
Possibilities for biological control of human pathogenic bacteria will be investigated. For this, the effect of the probiotic strain E. faecium SF68 on the growth and survival of pathogenic bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enterica biovar Enteritidis, enteroinvasive E. coli, Clostridium difficile and Campylobacter jejuni will be investigated in vitro. Furthermore the potential of E. faecium SF68 to prevent adhesion and invasion of potentially pathogenic enterococci will be investigated using HT-29 cells in tissue culture.
