Junior Research Group Toxicokinetic Modelling
Project
Project code: BfR-EXPO-08-1323-105
Contract period: 01.10.2017
- 30.09.2020
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
The main objective is to support model guided decision-making. Therefore, the group exploits available in silico, in vitro und in vivo approaches. Key tasks during model development are the generation of datasets, parameter estimation and the simulation of biologial systems - with special emphasis on humans.
Now, after build-up and establishment of the Junior Research Group, first results were generated and are to be published (Aluminum toxicokinetics and with limitations also for substance combinations). The group induces additional synergies to existing competences at BfR, e.g., with respect to research on pyrrolizidine alkaloids. The translation from in vitro to in vivo and between different species allows to contextualize individual observations. The such improved understanding ultimately allows to better deal with sparse data situations.
