Exposure to residents and bystanders following high crop applications of plant protection products (3D drift detection)
Project
Project code: JKI-AT-08-1146
Contract period: 01.01.2018
- 31.12.2020
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
Keywords: inventory, exposure, spray drift, chemical pesticide reduction
The aim of the project is the generation of data (dermal and inhalative) for exposure assessment of bystanders and residents caused by drift during application of plant protection products in orchards. Due to lacking and outdated data, the EFSA-guideline recommends explicit the generation of actually relevant measurement data related to spray exposure in orchards. The association of the manufacturers of plant protection products in Europe (ECPA) has followed this advice and started a project in 2015 for measuring the spray exposure at distances of between 5 and 15 m compared with 8 m and 50 m from existing studies by the application of plant protection products in vineyards and fruit orchards.
