Genome-driven analysis of the wheat/Fusarium pathosystem for healthy food and feed product development, Subproject B (FusResist)
Project
Project code: 031B0011B
Contract period: 01.07.2015
- 30.06.2018
Budget: 21,596 Euro
Purpose of research: Networks and research co-ordination
The aim of the project is the application of genome based and proteomic methods for (1) the selection for resistance against Fusarium (FHB) and for reduced mycotoxin production, (2) the analyses of the host-pathogen-interaction wheat/fusarium, (3) population and association genetics studies on Fusarium graminearum isolates. The expected results will lead to a deeper understanding of the essential factors for higher resistance in wheat and the aggressiveness of Fusarium-isolates, respectively. Highly effective subgenomic regions of wheat for resistance and reduced mycotoxine production will be detected and genome based selection methods for Fusarium resistance will be developed to increase the level of resistance against fusarium head blight.
