Description
Department of Experimental Animal Facilities and Biorisk Management is a central service of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut. It is responsible for the entire experimental animal husbandry of the institute on the island of Riems including the laboratories of pathology and bacteriology. In addition to the licensing office, the department also houses the central services for supply of biological test materials, i.e. the collection of cell lines and the virus strain bank of the FLI.
The head of the department also acts as veterinary officer for the FLI site Insel Riems and as designated „Biorisk Officer“ overseeing the biorisk management of the FLI and the observance of biosafety and -security regulations.
