Description
ICRISAT is a nonprofit, international organization for science-based agricultural development.The objective is to help developing countries apply science to increase crop productivity and food security, reduce poverty, and protect the environment. ICRISAT focuses on the semi-arid tropical areas of the developing world, where low rainfall is the major environmental constraint to agriculture. Special emphasis is placed on five crops that are particularly important in the diets of the poor: sorghum, millet, groundnut, chickpea, and pigeonpea.
