Section overview
Description
The Institute for Molecular genetics, genetic engineering research and consulting (IMSB) exists since 1994 as an independent scientific institution in the Department of Biology at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. In addition to university research and teaching, the Institute studies in the field of genetic monitoring equipment on behalf of and in cooperation with the competent authorities. This includes the evaluation of releases of genetically modified plants. The IMSB is involved in the development and evaluation of methods for detection of animal and plant species, and the area of genetically modified food products. For questions regarding the molecular genetics and genetic engineering is a consulting service for interested parties from within and outside the university available.
