The Center provides scientific support to policy makers, management advisors and horticultural enterprises in Germany.
In applied research the Center’s research focus is on the development, organization and management of horticultural systems.

- Nation wide representative survey and analysis of common production and marketing systems and establishment of a nation wide research network for organic horticulture

- Economic evaluation of weather-related damage to horticultural crops
- Identification of genetic factors influencing replant disease in apple
- Nationwide representative survey and analysis of widespread production methods, marketing structures as well as the economic and social situation of organic farms and establishment of a research-organic farming-network
