Databases for the notification of interceptions of consignments of plants, plant products and other objects from EU Member States and EU Third Countries, on the occurrence of quarantine organisms and on the import and export of products relevant to quarantine (EUROPHYT)
Project
Project code: JKI-AG-02-0035
Contract period: 01.01.2008
- 31.12.2021
Purpose of research: Applied research
The EC Commission provides the database EUROPHYT-PHY to manage interceptions of consignments from EU Member States and non-EU countries. The German plant health services enter their notifications into the database, the JKI validates and approves them. The interceptions are notified to the single authorities according to article 1(4) of EC Directive 2000/29/EU using an automatic email service. Inspectors of the plant health services and the JKI may do analyses. The JKI regularly passes on specific analyses relevant to phytosanitary risks together with notifications on the occurrence of harmful organisms.
Database management and analysis of interceptions has become easier since the introduction of the online system.
