The landrace Tettnanger should be significantly improved in its yield and fungal resistance while maintaining its original noble aroma profile. This objective could not be achieved via clonal selection. Thus, a classical cross breeding program has been started by using Tettnanger and pre-selected Hüll male breeding lines derived from progenies revealing fine aroma, broad disease resistance and good agronomic performance.
