Project code: BfR-BIOS-08-1322-208
Contract period: 10.02.2007 - 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research

Current data indicate that meat of wild-life animals bears a risk as source of STEC contaminants which might behave as human pathogens. Very little is known on the type spectrum and the virulence attributes of STEC from deer and other wild-life animals. The aim of the project is to collect STEC isolated from game and to characterize these strains for their signifance as potential human pathogens.
