Project
Project code: 033L030G
Contract period: 01.01.2011
- 30.04.2013
Budget: 84,238 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The current management of drained peatlands is pollutive and entails economic costs Substantial means have to be spent in other areas of the national economy to achieve goals in nature protection and water pollution control. Currently, the unsustainable use of mires is largely funded by economic policy framework, such as EU-agriculture policy, renewable energy law, etc. The goal of the subproject is to analyze critically and systematically the political influence. Efforts are made to promote environmentally friendly Paludiculture through the EU agricultural environmental program and to influence EU agricultural policies. Funding opportunities could promote rewetting of peatlands through purchase of adapted management techniques on an operational level or through structural means for rewetting (engineering measures).
