Mata Atlântica

Collaborative Project

Coordinating institution: Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research

The program Mata Atlântica aims to develop strategies and action plans for the conservation, sustainable management and use of endangered remnants of the Brazilian Atlantic forest. These strategies will be based on interdisciplinary research and provide a long-term vision. The application of scientific results should improve the efficiency of measures to protect the biodiversity of the Mata Atlântica, and thereby provide an ecological basis for regional landscape planning, in order to promote the persistence and regeneration of the typical biodiversity within this region.
