Purpose of research: Applied research
Stored product pest insects can be controlled by physical means such as high temperatures, freezing or mechanical impact, by biological antagonists such as predators or parasitoids, by less toxic compounds such as dissiccating dusts (diatomaceous earth), plant extracts or inert gases (nitrogen, carbon dioxid at ambient or increased pressure). Neben dem Einsatz dieser Verfahren in Deutschland ist auch die Kooperation mit Agrar- und Schwellenländern ein Aspekt dieser Untersuchungen.
