KUHproKLIMA - Innovative strategies for resource-saving and resilient grassland management (KUHproKLIMA)
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-BY-2020-THBBVLLV
Contract period: 12.07.1905
- 30.12.1899
Budget: 397,154 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: animal husbandry, soil, biodiversity, landscape element/diversity, climate change
The aim of this project is to test an holistic pasture management ('Holistic Planned Grazing' according to A. Savory) and the targeted improvement of soil life. Both measures support a high level of biodiversity, structural and utilization diversity. In addition, by increasing the natural biological processes both work volumes and emissions and further operating costs shall be reduced. By integrating dairy farms with different operations, KUHproKLIMA presents various starting conditions and defines needs and personal operating goals in a context-related manner. Comprehensive monitoring will be used to record changes and progress with regard to the pasture ecosystems over the entire duration of the project. Recommendations for practice will be derived from the results of the project. A best practice guide will be developed.
