The goal of the research project is, the development of sustainable and novel intelligent packaging systems for different supply chains, to increase quality, safety, process effectiveness and resource efficiency of perishable products. The main focus of the interdisciplinary project is to allow the calculation of the remaining shelf life just-in-time by the information of the intelligent packagings. Therefore a better monitoring will be allowed and decisions will be based on the remaining shelf life just-in-time. Food waste in temperature-controlled chains can be significantly reduced and the quality status and safety can be increased by improved processes.
