Development of an innovative biochemical procedure to separate sulfur from gases
Project
Project code: 2219NR118
Contract period: 01.10.2019
- 31.03.2022
Budget: 90,105 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: biogas, renewable ressources
In connection with the currently growing prices of raw materials and future developments in the energy market with regard to resource-saving technologies, biogas plant efficiency is becoming an exposed economic factor for operators and investors. New ways of optimizing biogas plants have to be pursued. In addition to the optimization of process technology for gas production, this concerns primarily and in particular the optimization of gas desulfurization, including environmentally friendly filter materials. The overall objective of the joint project is to develop an innovative process (BEKOM-Bio-Power) for the optimized redundant separation of hydrogen sulfide. By an external, the own energy of the gas using, biochemical plant operating costs in multiple height should be saved. The process development aims to ensure sustainable and high-quality biogas desulfurization that is independent of hydrogen sulfide load fluctuations, thus making a significant contribution to increasing the efficiency and environmental compatibility of biogas plants. The process thus forms a decisive element for increasing the efficiency of biogas plants and acceptance as a safe energy storage and flex partner. At the same time, biogas would be recognized as a clean and future-oriented technology carrier with a natural cycle character. Thus, the development will also directly contribute to stabilizing the profitability of agricultural enterprises including stable and successful working biogas plants.
