Standardization and optimization of secondary ingredients of rockrose through culture and NIR sensors for sustainable cultivation in agriculture
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-Ni-2021-PPGB
Contract period: 01.01.2021
- 31.12.2023
Budget: 488,379 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: Plant production and horticulture
The goal of the project is the development of an indoor farm module for the enrichment of phytochemicals with the help of optical NIR methods. The integrated sensors can determine the content of desired plant extracts without contact with the living plant. In this way, the growth of the plants can be permanently monitored and the supply of light, temperature and water can be controlled in a more targeted manner. The rockrose is used as an example plant because its plant extracts contain polyphenols with antiviral properties. The necessary quality control and standardization for sustainable cultivation should be achieved within the project. After the module has been successfully installed, the plants with the highest yield should be selected and reproduced using the cloning process. At the same time, scientific advice is provided in order to ensure Good Manufacturing Practice for the production of potential active ingredients. Then the plants should be stimulated to grow. After selection for winter hardiness growing outdoors is also being considered.
