Development of breeding material by analysis and selection of important cropping and usability characters in so far neglected genetic ressouces of narrow leafed lupin (Lupinus angustifolius L.) (Lupi-ZAV)
Project
Project code: 2814EPS037
Contract period: 26.05.2015
- 25.05.2018
Budget: 130,767 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Rhizodeposits and Methionincontent as economic important characters in adaptability to adverse soil conditions and feed-value of protein will be evaluated in bitter forms of narrow leafed lupins donated by the Vavilov Institute for plant industry. It is expected that in bitter forms a higher degree of variability for these characters can be found than in sweet forms. Highly transcribed methionine-biosynthesis key-gene alleles shall be identified and a PCR-based selection tool shall be developped. For highly efficient Rhizodeposit-Genotypes characterization-parameters shall be found and described, which allow a selection for nutrient efficency and adaptation ability in routine breeding.
