Nutritional behaviour of vulnerable population groups
Project
Project code: MRI-EV-08-2021-2
Contract period: 01.01.2021
- 31.12.2023
Purpose of research: Applied research
The focus of the permanent task “Nutritional behaviour of vulnerable population groups”, is explicitly on those who are exposed to a variety of different pressures and have only limited possibilities to deal with them. These groups are, for example, people with a migration background, large families, single mothers or older women and men living alone. They are often at risk of poverty. The lack of material and social resources often has a negative impact on the nutritional behaviour and the nutritional care of children. With regard to nutritional behaviour, the living conditions of vulnerable groups play an important role and thus do economic, social and cultural factors such as family and income situation, the level of education and psychosocial stress. The focus of the task is also put on their nutrition-related socio-cultural opportunities of participation, as vulnerable groups are often excluded from fundamental areas of social life. Research in this area supports the BMEL in the design of both behavioural and structural preventive measures for the promotion of nutritional behaviour of vulnerable population groups in line with sustainable development. The project "Aspects of the nutritional behaviour of children with a migration background" (MRI-EV-08-EV-MIGRA2013) was part of this permanent task. Currently, the project "Pilot project: Design of transformative/transformation research for future-oriented nutritional behaviour" is being conducted as part of this thematic field.
