Development of codes for good agricultural practice and fertilisation strategies for sustainability
Project
Project code: JKI-PB-08-0041
Contract period: 01.01.2008
- 31.12.2018
Purpose of research: Applied research
Sustainable agriculture shall satisfy not only the current but also future needs of society for healthy food and agricultural products whilst addressing environmental issues and saving natural resources. Fertile soils are among the most important non-renewable resources on earth and agricultural production must preserve their natural state and without affecting other ecosystems. Agricultural production discharges significant quantities of nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorous) in marine waters (North Sea, Baltic Sea). The drafting of rules of good practice and sustainability strategies for fertilization are an indispensable contribution to live up to the demand for sustainability.
