Purpose of research: Experimental development

Participants of the livestock or meat sector have access to important product, process and quality data via the internet based information platform “Qualifood” (www.Qualifood.de). The respective data has been accumulated and harmonized and processed data is being provided very quickly to involved parties. This ensures that possible negative impacts (such as germs or also deficits in the livestock breeding) on the meat processing production chain can be identified and resolved early and reliably. During the process of slaughtering various information about the beef cattles are collected. Involved parties such as farmers, consulting organizations, cattle traders, livestock producers associations or slaughter houses get the prepared and bundled information back for quality management, traceability and product improvement. For instance, veterinary data of carcasses which is collected during the slaughtering process can refer to and reveal potential risks within the agricultural production (livestock breeding). Thereby, options for improvements are being identified and enabled. When passing critical thresholds in regard to slaughter, quality or hygiene data related to the meat producing chain, an alert message is sent to all parties concerned. When passing maximum values or thresholds, an additional message is automatically generated by the system and sent to the respective farmer, i.e. livestock breeder, the respective consulting organization or scientific institution. This information serves then as a trigger for implementing a countermeasure. By using the network of agricultural producers, suppliers, processing enterprises, institutions for quality management, research and marketing departments and institutions as well as associated industries and services providers within the meat producing chain, improved quality and risk management systems can be implemented and used on basis of the collected data and findings.
