Section overview
Description
The Dutch word 'Proeffabriek' stands for 'Pilot Plant' - DPF is a conceptual laboratory where promising methods and insights from the social sciences are 'scaled up'. Social scientists from a variety of research fields explore the conditions for responsible innovation. Innovation researchers develop new methods to engage stakeholders in early stages of research adn innovation. Philosophers explore the possible societal consequences of new and emerging technologies. Economists are developoing economis models that allow for braoder 'value' than profit maximalisation. And environmental scientists assess the environmental impacts of new productions methods.
The central question is how to make the results from social research available to a broader audience of technologists and policy makers beyond the peer community.
We advise knowledge-intensive organisations (universities, governments, businesses and public-private partnerships) on ways to address societal challenges surrounding emerging technologies. We offer research, consultancy and training in the area of responsible innovation.
DPF is a spin-off of CSG Centre for Society and the Life Sciences coordinated by the Radboud University in Nijmegen.
