Development and poving of a system for rabbit housing, which requires to the needs of the rabbits and is according to the German law (TierSchuNutzV). The new system should approve the animal welfare for the rabbits in Europe and especailly in Germany. In 2014 a new law entered into force and there is now the first time regulation of the housing for rabbits in German Farms. The requirements in the law are not tested yet. So there is no practical system on market available which is according to the German law. In this project we would like to develop and test a practical system for rabbit housing which improves animal welfare and is also profitable for the farmers. All partners in this cooperation like to bring their experience in the project to find the best solution for the rabbits and their needs. After concepting the new system we are going to build the system. For a period of three years Justus Liebig University is testing the system about animal-health and -welfare indicators.
