Project code: EIP-Agri-MP-2017-LPLGMPG01
Contract period: 01.01.2017 - 31.12.2019
Budget: 318,280 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, farming equipment, plant production and horticulture, fertilisation, soil, water

More than 2 M tons of fermentation residues are produced per year in Hesse by more than 200 biogas plants. The integration of these residues into the agricultural nutrient cycle, also as a substitute for mineral fertiliser, increases economic as well as ecological value. Many factors have an influence on the plant availability of nutrients. For an efficient use of fermentation residues it is necessary to have knowledge on dispensing and favourable time for distribution. A detailed examination of these interdependencies and the development of a digital assistance management system are going to enable an efficient use of fermentation residues as organic fertiliser. Furthermore an innovative and location-adapted application for fermentation residues in wheat and corn will reduce the environmental impact and finally a distinct crop and quality preservation.
